In short: delete your account in the app under More → Account → Delete account, or email hello@fareguard.co.uk from the address you signed up with.
Option 1: delete it in the app
This is the fastest route and takes effect immediately.
- Open the Take Eat Easy app and make sure you are signed in.
- Go to the More tab, then Account.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm. Your account and records are erased immediately.
You will be signed out once it is complete. Deletion cannot be reversed, and we are unable to restore a deleted account.
Option 2: ask us by email
If you have uninstalled the app, are unable to sign in, or would prefer that we carried out the deletion for you, email hello@fareguard.co.uk with the subject “Account deletion request”.
Send it from the email address on the account so we can be confident the request is genuine. If you cannot, we may need to ask you something else to verify it — we will never ask for your password. We action requests within 7 days and always within the one month that UK data protection law allows, and we will email you to confirm when it is done.
What gets deleted
Everything tied to your account, permanently:
- Your account and sign-in credentials
- Your email address
- Your entire food diary, every entry and every date
- Your calorie and macronutrient goals
- Your profile details, including height, weight, age, sex and activity level
- Your dietary preferences
- Any custom foods you created
Deletion is immediate on our live systems. Encrypted backups are kept on a rolling cycle and your data is purged from them within 30 days. Those backups are not used for anything other than disaster recovery.
What we have to keep, and why
Two things survive deletion, and only for as long as the law requires:
- Financial records. If you ever bought a subscription, HMRC and the Companies Act require us to keep records of the transaction for six years. These show that a payment happened. They do not contain your food diary, your goals or your dietary settings.
- Suppression records. Where we must show that a deletion request was carried out, we keep a minimal record that it happened.
We also cannot delete data held by third parties on their own account — Google keeps its own record of a Google Play purchase, under Google’s privacy policy, not ours.
Cancel your subscription first
Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription, and neither does uninstalling the app. Subscriptions are billed by Google, so they have to be cancelled there or you will keep being charged.
On your Android device open Google Play → your profile picture → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions, choose Take Eat Easy and tap Cancel subscription. Do this before deleting your account.
Data kept only on your phone
If you used Take Eat Easy without an account, we never received your diary at all — it lives only on your device. Uninstalling the app removes it. You can also clear it from the app’s own storage in your Android settings.
Alternatives to deletion
Closing your account is not the only option. You may sign out and continue to use the app locally, delete individual entries or custom foods, switch dietary preferences off, or request a copy of your data by email.
